In a culture that encourages self discovery and personal authenticity, the call to "be true to yourself" is a common message. However, Jesus never said this. His message is not about self-fulfillment but surrendering to Him and His truth. Instead of becoming exhausted and laboring to define your personal truth, Jesus calls us to know and follow Him, "the Truth"- and in doing so, we find true freedom.
